Back upping contacts and email Messages from Outlook
Outlook has the possibility of exporting contacts and messages in order to do backups and not lose important information.
Go to file, then select import and export
Then select Export to file, which will give you several file formats.
Select Personal Folder File (PST), which is the best format if you're planning to import files from another Outlook. This will keep the format the same.
Then select Inbox and select the option to include subfolders. (It is better to perform the same procedure for Inbox, Outbox and Contacts aside for the resulting file not to be very large)
Then select the part of the computer where you would like to save it.
Once you repeated this step and saved the three files (inbox, outbox and contacts).
You can import your contacts and email messages, repeating the same procedure; just select import from a file instead of export.
Tip: when upgrading to a new computer, is better to make sure everything was transferred properly before removing your current Outlook.
It is recommended to save this backup files on CDs and to update them regularly, so that if something happens to your computer, all the information won't be lost. |
